Song of the Day: Smokey Robinson & The Miracles - "The Tears Of A Clown"

I was listening to Marvin Gaye Radio on my Last.fm app, wondering if any Motown song could ever top "Heard It Through The Grapevine," when this song came on. Now, I had heard "The Tears of a Clown" many times as a little kid riding in the back seat of Mom's minivan. Mom liked to listen to golden oldies on KOOL 96.7 (now defunct). The nostalgia I felt as I listened once more was overwhelming. And this, I thought, was one of the most compelling powers of music.

There really isn't a better sound than classic soul with a great melody, as on "The Tears of a Clown" (though in my mind, there's still no better soul record than "Heard It Through The Grapevine"). You should give it a listen here.
